Tournament Chief Referee

Darryl Brambilla of Canada has been appointed the Tournament Chief Referee for the Americas Cup.

Darryl Brambilla’s Bio:

-  Started playingUnderwater Hockey in 1996

-  Played in 12 Canadian National Championships

-  Began refereeing on a regular basis starting in 2000

-  Played on the Canadian Masters team at 2006 World    Championships

-  Refereed at 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010 & 2011 World Championships

-  Became Chief Referee for Canada in 2007.

Darryl spends most of the year traveling to tournaments around North America both as a player, and a referee / Chief referee for many tournaments and continues to train new referees on a regular basis to help improve our sport.

Questions – Answers

Q- What would the tournament draw look like?

A- With 4 teams in each division, we will have a double round robin and single elimination play offs.  With 3 teams, we would have a triple round robin with, single elimination playoffs.  Each team would play 2 games per day and teams will have one warm up time slot on Tuesday.

Q- What size will the courts be?

A – Court size will be 20.1 Meters long x 15 meters wide, 6.5-7feet deep, 1 foot high walls on all four playing sides.

Q- What Version of CMAS rules will be used:

A – CMAS rules 10.05

Q- Do sticks have to float?

A – No.

Q- Are 2 bathing suits required?

A- No, just one suit, however they must be submitted to the Tournament Director for approval on a first come first served basis.  One suit pattern per country for all teams registered.
